Triple Threat

Kindergarten (Tuesdays, 4:00-5:00): Boys and girls are introduced to the excitement of theater through creative drama and movement.  With music and multi-sensory props, story books come to life as students create characters and act out scenes from children’s literature.  Singing and speaking skills are introduced in the second semester, as the class works to present a brief musical fairy-tale on stage.

Grades 1 & 2 (Thursdays, 4:00-6:15): Learning is fun as children develop vocal and physical expressiveness through theater games, role playing, and story drama.  Dance provides instruction in basic technique while nurturing musicality and performance skills. In the second semester singing is introduced as the class rehearses a musical theater sequence for presentation on stage. Second grade students are eligible to audition for Kidstage, a select performing ensemble.

Grades 3 & 4 (Tuesdays, 5:30-7:45): Students enjoy “acting out in class” as they improvise brief scenes based on literature and real-life.  In addition, they learn the basics of scene study through simple scripts:  Annie, Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Dance class provides technique and performance skills, developed through basic instruction and musical theater choreography.  Singing is added in the second semester as the class rehearses a musical theater sequence for presentation on stage. Students are eligible to audition for Kidstage and Young Actors Company, select performing ensembles.

Grades 5 & 6 (Thursdays, 6:30-7:45): Friendship and performance skills develop in this class which includes voice and speech work, partner improvisation, and scene study. In dance, students learn the basics of technique, dance steps, and musical theater choreography. Performing with vitality and enthusiasm is emphasized.  Singing completes the Triple Threat curriculum as the class combines acting, singing and dance in rehearsal for a Spring performance.  Students in this class are eligible to audition for Kidstage and Young Actors Company, select performing ensembles.

Grades 7-11 (Tuesdays, 5:00-7:00): Students strengthen performance skills through improvisation, script analysis, monologues, advanced scene study, and audition preparation.  Dance training develops basic technique and prepares students to perform musical theater choreography with vitality and enthusiasm. During the second semester, the class will integrate singing, acting, and dance through rehearsal of scenes and songs from the Broadway stage for a Spring performance.  Students are eligible to audition for Young Actors Company, a select performing ensemble.
