Dress Code
Dancewear items may be purchased at any dancewear store or online.
Note that for your convenience, Backstage Dance Studio has a dancewear store, Stage Left Dancewear, located across the parking lot from our main studio building. Stage Left also has an online store for Backstage dancers, where you can purchase your items online and pick them up in the store. Please contact Stage Left for store hours at 425.641.5696.
Acro
Ages 7+
All Dancers
• Black leotard or fitted black top
• Black form-fitting bottoms (shorts, leggings, etc.)
• No shoes
• Hair cleanly secured away from face and neck (ponytail, braids, bun, etc.)
Ballet & Pointe
Dress code for Ballet level 1 and above (ages 7+ and STARS/Signature Team dancers) is listed below. **Please note that leotard color is dependent upon class level/program.
Option 1
• Class level’s specific uniform leotard (check color by ballet level HERE)
• Ballet pink tights
• Pink leather/canvas ballet shoes, pointe shoes upon approval
• Ballet Bun – hair cleanly secured away from face and neck
Option 2
• White fitted t-shirt
• Black form-fitting bottoms (shorts, leggings, etc.) – must be able to see body lines
• Black leather/canvas ballet shoes
• Hair cleanly secured away from face and neck
Broadway Bound
Ages 6-8
Option 1
• Black leotard
• Ballet pink tights
• Pink ballet shoes, black Mary Jane tap shoes, black jazz shoes
• Hair cleanly secured back and away from face and neck (ponytail, braids, bun, etc.)
Option 2
• White fitted t-shirt
• Black form-fitting bottoms (shorts, leggings, etc.)
• Black ballet shoes, black Mary Jane tap shoes, black jazz shoes
• Hair cleanly secured away from face and neck
Ballet Basics, Ballet/Tap & Ballet/Jazz
Ages 5-6
Option 1
• Pink leotard (ballet skirt okay)
• Ballet pink tights
• Pink ballet shoes
• Black Mary Jane style tap shoes (for Ballet/Tap)
• Black jazz shoes (for Ballet/Jazz)
• Ballet Bun – hair cleanly secured away from face and neck
Option 2
• White fitted t-shirt

• Black oxford style tap shoes (for Ballet/Tap)

• Hair cleanly secured away from face and neck (ponytail, braids, bun, etc.)
Hip Hop Flip Flop
Ages 5-7
All Dancers
• Black logoed Backstage t-shirt, black leotard or fitted top
• Black bottoms (leggings, biker or athletic shorts, joggers, etc.)
• Solid black canvas high top shoes, including soles and laces (Hip Hop portion of class)
• No shoes (Acro portion of class)
• Hair cleanly secured away from face and neck (ponytail, braids, bun, etc.)
Jazz
Ages 7+
